Fukuoka Championships’ PR activities underway at swimming workshops! — Jonan Ward Public Pool
The Organising Committee of the 19th FINA World Championships 2021 Fukuoka visited the Jonan Ward Public Pool in Fukuoka City on Friday, 27 September to promote the international aquatics competition to children belonging to two swimming clubs based at the facility.
As we arrived the pool, the members of the swimming club “Aqua Kids” were all excited to pose for many photos. After practicing how to efficiently move their arms and feet using kickboards, the children swam all four strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly.
Also, when we asked the children of the other swimming club “Aquatics Jonan” whether they were familiar with the FINA World Championships, many of them answered, “Of course!”
As a gift to mark the occasion of our visit, we presented the children with badges featuring Sealight and Shirney (official mascots of the Fukuoka Championships). We were happy to see them pinning the badges on their swimming bags!
We hope that the Fukuoka edition of the World Championships to be held in two years will attract as many young spectators as possible, including children who enjoy swimming on a daily basis, so that they can watch exciting races among world-class swimmers up close.
The Organising Committee of the Championships is planning to attend more sports events in Fukuoka City in October to further promote the competition.
Please don’t miss a chance to meet and greet Sealight and Shirney!
